Increase Website Traffic

There are many ways to get visitors to your website, here are some of the few:

  • PPC (Pay Per Click Advertising)
  • SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • SMO (Social Media Optimization)
  • Google Trends

1. PPC is now being employed by many search engines, and other large sites that allow advertisements. Most marketing experts have learned to master Google as their main source of PPC advertising for their marketing campaigns. I say they have learned to master Google because it is somewhat difficult to get ads approved by Google. Learn more on how to Use Pay Per Click Ads.

2. SEO is used to increase website traffic organically, or naturally.

These techniques are put in to play to please the search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo. However, it can be very time consuming and not much people have the expertise or the patience to go through their website and fully optimize each page.

This includes things such as proper header tag usage, title optimization, internal and external linking (on-page SEO and off-page SEO), a fast-loading website, and last but definitely not least - Good Quality Content. Find out more about Organic Traffic.

3. SMO is the process of using Social Media Networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. to boost your online presence by becoming involved with your fans and or followers.

Facebook has a sophisticated advertising system allowing you to target your audience by age, gender, education level, marital status, as well as interests, hobbies, etc. It's pretty easy to get an ad approved with Facebook, you can use this system to try and gain an audience, and then once you have established a fan base, you get your fans involved in discussion topics as well as their friends.

You can get your fans' friends involved by running what is called a "Sponsored Story" (availabe in the advertisement section of Facebook as well) you may have seen something like this on your Facebook sidebar column that reads "Laura Likes Coca-Cola" underneath the Coca-Cola Logo. This is a great marketing ploy because people are more likely to like something that their friends already like.

4. Google Trends is mostly geared towards blogs such as wordpress, but not always. I say this because if you can find a topic on Google Trends that you are able to write about, go ahead and blog about it. If you're lucky, Google will crawl (index) your blog almost instantly, and shoot your website (blog) to the top of the search engine results for that hot topic.

This will Increase your website traffic significantly and will continue sending visitors to your website until the trend dies down. Now, chances are that someone else with this idea will be blogging about this same topic, so keep your content rich and well-written and make sure to follow other SEO practices used to gain traffic, to try and outrank your competitors.

One of the reasons Google Trends will work so well is because Google LOVES fresh content, they reward fresh new content with increased traffic to your site. So long as you keep writing good content on your blog, Google will continue to reward you, you don't have to write new content everyday, just try not to let your site go weeks or even months without something new.
